Seattle, WA August 9, 2003 -- RPI (Reischling Press, Inc.), ranked among the top 20 Puget Sound commercial printers, is pleased to announce the addition of a press that's generating genuine excitement in the printing world – the new Xerox DocuColor iGen3 Digital Production Press.

Because RPI is the first to install the iGen3, this installation is something of a coup for the printer, ranked as one of the area's fastest growing. This state of the art variable image printing press enables personalized printing with both faster speed and the high quality of traditional offset. Graphic artists can now incorporate information into their designs specifically tailored to their audience, such as customer names, their order preferences, and customized images.

The result is a much more powerful marketing piece. [A study by Professor Frank Romano of the Rochester Institute of Technology found full-color, personalized documents increased customer response rates over traditional methods by as much as 135 percent.

And the possibilities don't stop there. The iGen3 also opens the door to short runs of self-published materials, manuals, even books, while maintaining a highly professional, traditional print quality appearance.
According to RPI President, Ted Reischling, "This system marks a real milestone for our company. We've invested considerably in building our software and hardware infrastructure. The iGen3 represents the pinnacle of this effort. As the first in the area to offer it, we've shown our commitment to speed, superior quality, and one-to-one marketing communications for today's fast-paced business environment."

The iGen3 is appearing at an opportune time for many Puget Sound companies. With slow economic times and the anticipated impact of the National Do Not Call list, many marketers are seeking more effective
ways to reach their best prospects with materials that are relevant to them, and are opting for personalized variable text and graphic images targeted toward niche demographics. With the iGen3 and RPI's investments in software and custom software development, graphic and text variables are easily integrated into marketing collateral such as brochures, postcards, datasheets, self-mailers, greeting cards and even books.

RPI (www.rpiprint.com) is a national leader in the emerging world of "variable printing" for the online consumer market, having developed iPads (www.ipads.com ) a new Web application. iPads enables consumers to create full color photo-personalized printed products through partnerships and co-branded web sites including PETCO Inc., Classmates Online, Snapfish, Growing Family, and John L. Scott among others.

According to Xerox, the iGen3 not only helps put green on a company's bottom line, but its digital process is environmentally "green" as well. Close to 97 percent of the machine's components are recyclable. Being a digital device, it uses non-toxic, dry inks with a transfer efficiency rate of nearly 100 percent. Unlike an offset press, it requires neither chemicals nor extra time to make multiple color plates. And, there's essentially no wasteful overrun because each piece is custom tailored, enabling the printing of fewer pieces at less cost.

Puget Sound printing buyers now have a local place to call for a new generation of personalized printing. Says RPI's Ted Reischling, "Forget previous printing confinements limiting printed materials to identical images. Use your creativity. The unique possibilities of this new press are limited only by one's imagination."
